(09/24/10) Broadway and opera star Lisa Vroman returns to her musical roots in Potsdam on Saturday night. Perhaps best known for her role as Christine in The Phantom of the Opera during it's record breaking run in San Francisco, Vroman is a versatile performer with symphonies, Broadway and opera. She grew up in Adams, NY and majored in music education at the Crane School of Music at SUNY-Potsdam. Community Performance Series presents her concert, "How Can I Keep from Singing" Saturday night (7:30 pm) in Potsdam's Hosmer Hall. Todd Moe spoke with her about the music industry, her career and returning to the North Country.

An "Empty Bowls" wall display at South Jefferson Middle School
(05/23/06) Hundreds of clay bowls that were made over the last few months by students and staff in a Jefferson County school will raise thousands of dollars for hunger relief. South Jefferson Middle School, in Adams, is participating in the "Empty Bowls" program. The basic idea for the project is simple. Participants create ceramic bowls, then serve a simple meal of soup and bread. All the money raised benefits local food shelves and homeless shelters. South Jefferson's dinner is Wednesday night (5-6:30 pm) in the High School cafeteria. South Jefferson Middle School counselor Steve Robinson told Todd Moe that all 450 students participated in the project.

(05/13/04) This Sunday afternoon three Crop Walks for Hunger will be held in the Jefferson county communities of Adams, Sackets Harbor and Watertown. Pastor Cynthia Walton, of the United Presbyterian Church of Sackets Harbor, says money raised during the Crop Walks will benefit local food banks and world-wide disaster relief.
